Typo Lands in UK.
Just in time for the last-minute Christmas rush, Typo opened its first store in the UK at Stratford’s Westfield shopping centre in 2016. It also happened to be the 200th store opening for the Australian stationery brand.
Entering the market to compete with the likes of Paperchase, the brand stocks its tongue-in-cheek brand of stationery and gifts, as well as homeware, travel and tech accessories. Their store design concepts create an exaggerated vision of the brand, and the latest outpost in the monolithic Westfield complex – Westfield Group’s Aussie origins is known for attracting antipodean brands to the Europe – was no different, going all out with the colourful and fun theme.
sfd was tasked with creating an oversized visualisation of the items that Typo sells, communicating the energetic and fun personality of the brand to the customer. Among many props designed and built by sfd, neon signs, giant pencils and sharpeners, ink wells and a rotating window display helped to bring the space to life.
