Smoke & Bubbles.
Cult fashion brand COS will unveil its multisensory experience at the year’s Milan Design Week in collaboration to Swine Studios, the latest in a line of impressive installations by the brand at the annual event.
Inspired by the changing seasons, Swine designers Azusa Murakami and Alexander Groves will transform the disused Cinema Arti in Milan – the same venue COS used at the 2016 event for its collaboration with architect Sou Fujimoto – into an immersive environment that draws upon natural and industrial references.
“2016 was a year full of changes and crisis and so we wanted to create an installation that could offer a moment of contemplation,” Murakami and Groves told Dezeen. “For us, the idea of nature and changing seasons has such universal beauty. We aim to create a democratic experience which brings people together.”
While the teaser video shown below only offers a glimpse of what might be on show, with smoke-filled bubbles and and tender darkness and light, the overall experience will live up to the impressive precedent COS has set.
As well as the 2016 ‘Forests of Light” installation with Japanese Fujimoto, the brand have also created experiences and installations that have become the talk of the design world, such as Brooklyn studio Snarkitecture (2015) and Japanese design studio Nendo (2014).
