Just Do It Yourself.
Sometimes your only competition is yourself, at least if you’re Mo Farah, or training to be the next him. That is why Nike have just launched the world’s first LED running track in Manila. Conceptualised by BBH Singapore, who partnered with the American giant and a team of partners, and taking over an entire city block in the Philippine capital, the 200-metre track can accommodate 30 runners at one time and has been dubbed Nike’s ‘Unlimited Stadium’.
The incredible pop-up arena is shaped like a shoe print, the figure of eight track’s shape making reference to the brand’s athletic legacy and LunarEpic running shoe.
The track has a wall of LED screens around its edge that picks up a signal from a tag on your laces using hyper-accurate RFID technology and projects an avatar of your last lap, allowing you to keep up with – or beat – yourself. The avatar is accompanied with lap-by-lap stats and feedback, allowing you to perfect your pace.
