On the back of his latest single ‘Unholy War’, London-based soul singer, songwriter and producer, Jacob Banks, is set to release his new EP. Titled ‘The Boy Who Cried Freedom’, it has been described as “digital soul” and “putting a modern twist on a genre older than time”.
Since winning the MOBO UnSung regional competition in Birmingham back in 2012, Banks has enjoyed adding many accolades to his career already, including being the first unsigned artist to ever perform in Radio 1’s Live Lounge and touring with Emeli Sande. He has since collaborated with the likes of Chase and Status, Plan B and Bondax to develop his sound. He will be beginning an American tour later this month.
His deep transformative baritone voice echos in your ears with soft background harmonies bringing a lighter edge to the tracks. Despite the deep and meaningful lyrics in Monster 2.0 the continual claps help to bring a tuneful beat this powerful song.
